Vocal preparation for Sanremo: the technique that sets the singer free

Preparing a song for a stage like Sanremo means building the perfect balance between vocal technique, physical endurance, and artistic intent. The voice must be reliable, stable, and capable of withstanding stress, emotion, and repeated live performances.

Knowing the Song to Master It

The first step is an in-depth analysis of the song:

  • A suitable key that is sustainable throughout all evenings

  • A stable tessitura, without areas that cause early fatigue

  • Smart diction, to avoid jaw or tongue tension in more demanding passages

  • Dynamic control, especially if the song alternates between piano and forte in sensitive spots

This mapping allows the singer to organize their technical work and prepare the voice strategically.

Breathing: The Foundation of Everything

Breathing is the engine of the performance. During preparation:

  • Diaphragmatic support is trained

  • The connection with the deep abdominal muscles is reinforced

  • Rib mobility is developed

  • Exercises for laryngeal stability are practiced

Efficient breathing reduces fatigue, increases vocal freedom, and allows the singer to stay in control even when adrenaline kicks in.

Live Simulations: The Most Important Training

Rehearsing the song "in studio" is not enough. It's necessary to:

  • Simulate the stage

  • Use microphone and in-ear monitors

  • Practice standing, with movement

  • Recreate conditions similar to live TV broadcasts

Simulations lower perceived stress levels and build both vocal and muscular memory.
