WHEN THE JAW HOLDS THE PERFORMANCE: Release without losing intensity

This distinction is particularly important when working with dramatic performers.
If an actress needs anger, fear, grief or extreme emotional tension for a scene,
eliminating every trace of muscular activation would make little sense.
The goal is not:
“Don't tense.”
The goal is:
“Don't use more tension than the performance requires.”
An actress may need to scream.
She may need to cry.
She may need to whisper under extreme emotional pressure.
She may need to repeat the same breakdown twelve times while cameras change position.
Clinical performance support asks a different question:
How can the body preserve the emotional truth of the scene while reducing the physiological cost of repeating it?
