Osteopathy considers the body as an interconnected system, treating the root cause of vocal problems, not just the symptoms.
Osteopaths use soft tissue manipulation, joint mobilization, and other manual techniques to restore functionality and release the body from restrictions.
The osteopath identifies and addresses the body’s functional limitations even at a distance, such as foot misalignment or diaphragm dysfunction, which can have a “boomerang effect” on the vocal tract.
Collaboration with other professionals:
Osteopathy can be a valuable part of a team that includes phoniatrists, singing teachers, and speech therapists, helping to assess vocal limitations, improve performance, and maintain laryngeal health.
When to consider osteopathy
Singers can benefit from osteopathy to improve technique, prevent injury, or relieve symptoms like vocal fatigue or tension, difficulty breathing, a sensation of tightness in the throat or chest, loss of vocal range and frequencies, or a rough and unsteady voice.
